Potential Suppliers

What we look for in an SCMC supplier

To ensure awarded commodity agreements represent the best overall value to the Department of Energy, Supply Chain Management Center commodity managers evaluate potential suppliers using criteria, such as:

  • Technical superiority and product quality: Reliable solutions that meet site-specific requirements.
  • Competitive pricing and delivery: On-time execution with cost-effective options.
  • Proven track record: A strong history of past performance and positive endorsements from site-level prime contractors.

How to get started

Step 1: Complete your SCMC supplier profile

Register in the SCMC Supplier Database by completing your supplier profile. When you submit your profile, your capabilities become searchable to buyers and prime contractors across all 26 National Nuclear Security Administration and Environmental Management sites. SCMC Commodity Managers also leverage this database to find potential suppliers for commodity agreements. Please make sure the NAICS you enter in your profile match commodity agreement opportunities you'd like to be considered for.

Step 2: Connect with Prime Contractors directly

Prime Contractors are often your best advocates. Excellent performance on site-level work can be a differentiator when considering multi-site and enterprise-wide SCMC agreements. Explore individual contractor supplier portals to learn more about site-specific opportunities. In-person and virtual events are another great way to connect. Check out the upcoming events to see some of the places DOE M&Os may be.

Step 3: Monitor opportunities regularly

Visit the SCMC business opportunities page quarterly to review SCMC's commodity roadmap. SCMC publishes both new and recompeting agreement opportunities and is looking for exceptional suppliers to meet these needs. If you see an opportunity that fits your scope and you have the expertise to scale to an enterprise level, reach to the SCMC Commodity Managers associated with that opportunity to learn more.
